New Statue to Brian Epstein in Liverpool

If you Google, “Brian Epstein Statue”, you may be surprised to discover that no statue of Brian Samuel Epstein has been erected anywhere in the world – even in Liverpool. In 2007, David Charters of the Liverpool Daily Post reported that “The Beatles could be worth £1bn-a-year to Liverpool’s economy”.

In the same article Jerry Goldman, the 60-year old director of the Beatles Story museum and shop on Liverpool’s Albert Dock was quotes as saying that “I would say that direct Beatles’ tourism is worth £200m, but the wider figure is between £500m and a billion pounds” So with the old saying “better late than never” in mind it is perhaps long overdue that a core of Brian Epstein friends and fans in his native Liverpool has mustered the initiative and strength to correct this oversight.

A charity has been established which will serve two purposes in this initiative. It will embark upon a campaign of fundraising to generate the £60,000 required to bring Brian Epstein’s image into statue form and secondly it will collect and administer the funds in conjunction with Liverpool City Council who has passed full planning permission for the statue.

The location for the monument is the Epstein family home (now a Hotel) in Liverpool.
